Koffee Kult Dark Roast

An exceptional coffee all around and an excellent choice for a daily cup of coffee.

We tried this coffee in several different forms to truly test its versatility.  Through the traditional drip coffee maker, this coffee works well and has a great flavor.  Although other methods are better at extracting the true character of this coffee, a drip maker will work in a pinch.  Second, the AeroPress method was our preferred choice for this specific bean.  Utilizing the reverse method, we allowed the freshly ground coffee to brew for 2 min 30 sec for the appropriate steep which produced a rich, bold flavor and enough caffeine to induce motivation at the earliest hours of the day.  We also tried the traditional French press method which also produces an exceptional cup of coffee, probably slightly more bold and a bit more bitter than the other methods.  This is probably due to the longer steep time in a French press and the presence of silt grinds at the bottom of the press.

Overall being one of the highest rated coffees on Amazon, we were truly impressed with this coffee and were surprised with how stable it was across several different forms as well as temperatures.  We wholeheartedly recommend this coffee and will definitely be purchasing more in the future as a staple in our coffee rotation.

Sight – 3 / 5 beans

Dark brown in color, almost reminiscent of walnut.  Semi-translucent, quite clean, not dusty.

Smell – 3.5 / 5 beans

Bold, cocoa, cinnamon.  Linear in smell, one-note.

Touch – 4 / 5 beans

The coffee is incredibly smooth on the palette (almost a creamy texture) with notes of cocoa and cinnamon and a nice round boldness.

Taste – 4 / 5 beans

The flavor truly lingers around after each sip but is not unpleasant at all and invites further enjoyment.  Given that it is currently summer, we enjoyed this coffee the most in an iced form, a format which this coffee really excels at too.  It retains its flavor characteristics despite being watered down and the flavor profile remains strong.

Overall – 3.7 / 5 beans
